Happy Holiday's From The Family of DrTranquility.com

Welcome to DrTranquility Kid's brought to you by the Family of DrTranquility.com!

We are back this month by popular demand. Thank You for all of your amazing and heart felt emails. The holidays are a wonderful time to teach children the fine art of gratitude and giving.  A great way to do is to have them select one of the presents from their holiday list that means something to them and donate those monies to an organization to help out those in need( and yes the monies were expressed directly from Santa Claus if that's your story). Here on DrTranquility Kid's we wanted to share with you this amazing organization.

This is a wonderful time of year to teach our children the true art of giving and kindness. One company that comes to mind is CASA. What is CASA you ask?

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Orange County is a non-profit organization that trains community volunteers to serve as powerful mentors and advocates for our community’s most severely abused, abandoned and neglected children.

CASA serves children who, for their own protection, have been removed from their homes and placed in foster care. Judges refer the most serious cases of child abuse and neglect to CASA so that one volunteer can consistently spend time with one child, building a relationship and ensuring that each child is receiving the support and attention he or she needs and deserves while going through the foster care process.

The unique one-on-one relationship that forms between the volunteer and dependent child is often the only stable, positive relationship the child has. In a sea of social workers, attorneys, therapists and caregivers, it's the court appointed volunteer who is a consistent and caring friend and advocate for the child.
Volunteer advocates are a powerful voice for children, advising the court about what the child needs and wants. While providing emotional support and the stability and nurturing every child deserves, they make recommendations that are in the child's best interest.
"Giving a voice, hope and a future to abused and neglected children".

Treat Your Brain and Body Right for Optimum Learning
Tips to help our students achieve
Dr. Jeanie

What we put in our mouth can make a difference in how we learn. As our students are growing, we want to make sure they are feeding their brain with healthy foods, doing lots of movement to bring oxygen to the brain, and plenty of sleep to build strong bodies and healthy brains for learning. As we all know the holiday's are a time when all go off of the path, with all of the rushing about we are grabbing the quickest meal possible. Not to mention the cakes, candy, cookies and other goodies that find their way to our mouths. We often allow our children to stay up later than they should especially while on holiday. So with this in mind  it's very important for their health, and their ability to excel when back in the classroom that they are well rested. That our chilren have enjoyed lots of movement  while on their break, and they have some great interactive video games these days. Finally that amidst all of the treats that they have also been eating healthy food that is feeding their brain and their are some great tasting healthy options out there. So enjoy and make it a happy and healthy holiday season!
